All 2021 commencing Faculty of Arts graduate researchers, Doctor of Philosophy - Arts (PhD) and Master of Arts - Thesis only/Advanced Seminar & Shorter Thesis (MA), are required to complete this form to finalise course commencement enrolment. Please ensure that the information on the Commencing your research (including Step 1: Overview of course structure, Step 2: Course enrolment information and Step 2: Orientation and induction) website have been reviewed prior to submitting this form.
Graduate researchers enrolling into the PhD or intending to convert from MA to PhD are required to successfully complete the compulsory PhD Coursework Component that consists of 25 credit points, made up of an
International graduate researchers must have their relevant student visas granted prior to submitting this enrolment form and must attach a copy of their Visa Grant Notice to this form.

The University of Melbourne expects all graduate researchers, both international and domestic, to undertake their research on campus. While international travel restrictions are in place, we may only facilitate remote commencement if your research can be initiated from your home location and you can make progress at the same level as if you were on campus. This provision is limited to the period of COVID-19 travel restrictions.
If you are residing in Australia, you are expected to commence your research on campus — only in exceptional circumstances will you be allowed to start remotely.
